Thank you, I can't say it enough. Thank you for your patience, prayers, & monetary needs. I write to you with so much that has happened. We have launched a successful tour, the "Roadie" teams have been on the road for a week now. They are all learning so much. The day the teams left, I got a call from the Deep South team saying that there van broke down. They ended up bending a rod in the engine & we had to sell the van in Yuma AZ.
On the brighter side of things Invisible Children is planning an event, in 100 cities world-wide. The event is going to be called "The Rescue of Joseph Kony's Child Soldiers.
90% of the LRA does not want to be there. They were abducted by rebels as children. The reasoning behind this event is to bring attention to this crisis (as we have been for nearly six years now, through our creative approch to acvocay, with two big events & 150,000 in attendance). We want not only the United states to get involved but the international community. We have set up four tours to achieve this: domestic, Mexico, Australia/ New Zealand, & Europe. Thus far they have been a success. We also are having events that I have been so adamantly advocating for, in the areas that I just listed. Here is the logistical side of it.
On April 25th the international Community will unite to deliver the innocent from Kony's reign & ensure he is brought to justice. Thousands of participants will gather 100 cities across the world to abduct themselves & raise the banner of the soldiers taken by Joseph Kony.
Those abducted will leave their homes & walk to an event location, while carrying their supplies on their backs. At the site, they will then wait to be "rescued"-This requires a certain amount of media coverage as well as the attendance of pre-determined cultural & political leaders Depending on the size, scope & fervor of the specific event location, those leaders invited to The Rescue may be a Congressional Representative, State Official, local Mayor or Business/ media figure.
At the event, participants will write letters, create art/photo projects & seek out media attention in an effort to petition the US European, Canadian, Mexican, & Australian governments to develop a Strategy & support existing efforts to rescue Kony's child soldiers.
You can watch the newest film (thirty one minutes in length) that our art department has created, here... http://www.invisiblechildren.com/april2009/index.html It will take a minute to load. After watching, browse this site & sign up to the event nearest to you. Thank you again so very much for your support & please don't hessitate to ask me questions.
